A case of primary liposarcoma of the mediastinum with a review of the
literature is presented. Liposarcomas may attain a large mass and exhibit
various kinds of clinical symptoms according to their localisation.
Histological typing is very important in determining the type and extent of
therapy. Surgical excision of the tumour is the therapy of choice in all
cases. Radiotherapy may be of value for the palliation of unresectable
cases.
