We describe a simple, reproducible technique of achieving more normal left
ventricular function after mitral valve replacement.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sutures are used as chordae tendineae to
restore the integrity between the mechanical valve and papillary muscles
and thus the left ventricular wall.
