We read the excellent study of Ibaraki et al. [1] with great interest. They found that both tryptase-positive mast cells (MCT) and tryptase- and chymase-positive mast cells (MCTC) counts in the border lung cancer region, where microvessels counts higher, were higher than in the central region. The ratio of MCTC to MCT in the border region was significantly higher than that in the normal region. They concluded that MCTC might be involved in the pathogenesis of angiogenesis in lung cancer.
