Knife impalement at the right parasternum

A 36-year-old female was stabbed at the right parasternum with a knife (Fig. 1). An X-ray demonstrated a 13-cm metallic portion within the thorax (Fig. 2). Under a median sternotomy for vascular control, the knife was found traversing the interlobar fissure. The knife was removed without bleeding.
