 Abstract

Editor-in-Chief

Beginning with the October 1999 issue (EJCTS 16/4), the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EJCTS) has become the official organ not only of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) but also the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS). The membership of the ESTS will receive a subscription to the Journal and the Journal will print selected articles presented at the annual meetings of the ESTS, subject to the usual editorial reviewing process. The Editor and the Council of EACTS, acting in conjunction with the ESTS, have appointed K. Jeyasingham as the Associate Editor in charge of ESTS papers. He will assist the Editor-In-Chief in selecting and reviewing ESTS meeting papers for publication in the EJCTS, and he will also support the efforts of K. Moghissi, Associate Editor in charge of thoracic surgery. Thoracic representation on the Editorial Board of the Journal will be increased, pending approval by the Councils of both Societies, acting on proposals of the Editor-In-Chief.

European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery welcomes the members of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons as new subscribers. The Editor and both societies hope that this move will not only increase the attractiveness and circulation of the Journal, but will also result in a higher submission rate of thoracic papers and increase the scientific prestige of the EJCTS.
