Intrathoracic gossypiboma: a movable body within a pseudocystic mass

A 75-year-old woman, who 5 years before underwent a coronary surgery, reported the appearance of cough and weight loss. A chest X-ray followed by computed tomography (CT) scan revealed a large mass on the left hemidiaphragm. The diagnosis of gossypiboma was achieved by MNR (Fig. 1 ). The retained sponge was successfully removed by thoracotomy (Fig. 2 ).
