Ectopic mediastinal thyroid adenoma

A 72-year-old woman presented with a bilateral multinodular cervical goiter and an entirely separate, intrathoracic thyroid adenoma. This tumor was surrounded by the azygos vein, the superior vena cava, and the confluence of the innominate veins (Fig. 1). It was resected thoracoscopically with the da VinciTM operating robot. Histology confirmed a thyroid adenoma (Fig. 2) .
