Burckhard Friedrich Kommerell (1900–1990) described his diverticulum/aneurysm of the proximal lusorian artery in 1936. Fig. 1
shows the incidental finding of an asymptomatic Kommerell's diverticulum of 5.1 cm in diameter in an 88-year-old man who was investigated for anaemia. No treatment of the Kommerell's diverticulum was suggested.
